This is more Impressionistic painting of Chicago.  The light of mid day is captured in bold textured strokes.  It’s also the light of Summer as it bounces in lLake Michigan and is reflected off buildings. Som of those buildings like the AON Center and Smurfit Stone are composed of single  knife strokes.  Whites and pale colors add to the airy scene and sense of  tranquility. I particularly like  the way the white paint parts the water in the middle right side, inviting the viewer into the scene. There’s also a gentle sense of movement; the rolling waves, the L train riding the green hills.
