A jazz quartet is visited by a tuxedo cat in this painting by Joe Smigielski.   The cat is particularly  drawn to the saxophone.  The trumpet breaks into high notes.   The bass and sax play off each other, while the drummer simply keeps time.  His low key look was inspired by Charlie Watts.   The composition is dominated by black and white with pops of red, inspired by jazz record album covers of the 1950s.  I love this painting.

Tuxedo Cat at 33 and 1/3.

16x16 oil,  painted on a cradled wood panel.  The birch panel is stained a dark walnut, revealing the grain and complimenting the dark tones of the painting.  The panel has a 3/4 inch profile.
