SOLD. Private Collection, Mount Prospect Illinois.

This one is all about the music;  in both subject and technique.   We have the band of course, taking center stage on a Summer Chicago night.  They play quick and light, their bodies and instruments fusing with the lines of the buildings.  The band buildings and sounds are all one.

The brushwork is also quick and light.  Brush strokes are laid down like beats and bright trumpet notes, dashing across the canvas.  Lines overlap, rhythms weaving.  it's the sounds of music transposed onto the canvas.

The band members are having a good time.  The trumpeter is soloing, looking good in stripes and shaggy hair.  The drummer is focused with roller coaster arms that play just behind the beat.  The bass player is pleasantly adrift in the harmony.

Argyle  Hancock  colored like a peacock.   Marina Towers bend in, listening with ears of corn.  Our new member of the downtown skyline, Vista Tower is present, sporting a fine  cap.  Merchandise Mart and the Wrigley Building are sitting down for the show, taking it in slow.  Sears cheers.  The Drake shakes.
